Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Today was a great day, I read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. The story was great and I especially liked the character, Willy Wonka.
The story is about a young boy, named Charlie Bucket, A boy with a good heart but no money, who dreams wistfully of buying the chocolates that the other children enjoy. Charlie lives with his family in a crooked little house at the outskirts of the city. This city has a factory, a chocolate factory, the biggest and the most mysterious chocolate factory, owned by the eccentric Willy Wonka, the maker of the finest chocolates in the world.
Charlie enters a magic new world when he wins one of the five 'Golden Tickets' to visit the mysterious chocolate factory, which has been closed to humans (except for Mr. Wonka of course) for years. Inside the factory, the other four children with a parent each, who had won the Golden Ticket, join Charlie and his Grandpa Joe in their journey. There they meet Willy Wonka, who is shown as an eccentric and genius chocolatier who is absolutely crazy about chocolates and candy.
After reading the book, I watched the movie based on this book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
I enjoyed watching Johny Depp in the role of Willy Wonka. And Deep Roy played the Oompa-Loompas (all 165 of them) spectacularly.
The songs of the Oompa-Loompas were great and funny. I especially liked the song on Mike Teevee.
The story teaches us that being a spoilt brat, eating too much chocolate, excessively chewing gum or watching too much T.V., can have disastrous consequences.
The story concludes with the moral that a kind heart and a loving family are the most important things of all.
I have started reading short stories by Leo Tolstoy, I have read "Ivan The Fool" and loved it, looking forward to reading more.
Reading was a lot of fun but, unfortunately, I was not able to do Maths at KA today. Sal Khan's birthday is on 11th and I am going to make a nice program with fireworks, wishing Sal a Happy Birthday.
